Swim
Comments: Swim went OK. Longest swim to date, though with the current the time in the water was almost cut in half of what I normally would have done. The water was nicely warm. Breathing to right (preferred) put the sun directly into my eyes. Tried to breathe left but didn't like that very much. Weird to not have any buoys to sight on, just swam down the river. Would have liked a flag or something at the swim exit. Many people just back-floating. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Transition 1
Comments: Walked out of water to bike. Wetsuit stuck on hands (odd). Had to pack everything into a bag. Put on sunscreen. Fairly fast transition actually, 28 out of 91. What would you do differently?: Nothing, really. Don't know why my wetsuit didn't want to come off my arms - hasn't been a problem in the past. Bike
Comments: Pleased with this ride. Undertrained, so this ride was longest to date. Lost my gatorade bottle halfway through but had just taken a Gu and still had my water bottle so didn't worry about it. Large number of racers with almost NO ONE saying "on your left" or anything like that, and people were all over the road (annoying). Saw some obvious drafting. Rode alot in the drops. What would you do differently?: Probably nothing, it was a good ride - just need to train more. Want to get some aerobars. Also had some seat-related numbness. My pinky toes got numb, too. Will try the Adamo seat again when I get the aerobars. Transition 2
Comments: Poor dismount area, they didn't want you to dismount until you were right at the gate into T2, so everyone was bottlenecked. Poorly arranged transition area, hard to navigate with bike and lots of other racers. I transitioned well until I forgot to put Body Glide on my feet - must have that so had to take shoes off, put Body Glide on, then shoes back on. Still a fairly fast transition, 56 out of 90. What would you do differently?: Body Glide should go on before start of race, but was ruched and forgot. Run
Comments: I felt really good with this run. Walked the short uphill and took another Gu. Ran the entire thing except for the 3 aid stations!! And averaged 11 minute miles!! Ran with a small bottle of gatorade and took water at the aid stations. LOVED the fire dept and people in their yards with their hoses out. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was a great run for me. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some watermelon and a water. Waited for Chuck. Should have stretched more. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: Nice race, good volunteers, HORRIBLE communication. No emails, and the website wasn't updated until about 36 hours before the race. Website still doesn't link to results, had to go to Milliseconds website to find them. Last updated: 2012-04-06 12:00 AM

Drove to Burley on Friday (3 hrs), got there around 3:30pm. Packet pick-up was easy, and we saw that T2 was available for setup. We decided to drive to our hotel in Twin Falls (45mins) to check-in and relax before coming back to set up T2 and listen to the race meeting. (We had heard that the spaghetti dinner wasn't great, so planned on eating elsewhere). We got back to Burley and set up our T2 with no problem, then went to the race meeting which was a joke - no info there that wasn't on the website. Drove back to Twin Falls and ate dinner at BW3s. Good for me, was too late of a dinner for Chuck so he didn't sleep well. Woke up at 5am wanting to be rolling at 5:30. We got out of the hotel a few minutes late, then stopped to get Chuck some breakfast. Didn't get to the race start until about 6:45 (30 mins later than I wanted) as parking was crazy (racers and spectators). Ate a Clif Bar and drank a chocolate milk on the drive. Was going to eat another Clif Bar but forgot it in the car. Got T1 setup, Chuck realized he forgot his gatorade bottles for the run in the car. I got my wetsuit on while he went back to the car. Waves were already starting and I was struggling with my wetsuit - was feeling rushed and worried that I hadn't eaten the way I had planned.
No time for a warm-up. Got my wetsuit on about 15 mins before my wave started. Got in the water at the 10 min mark to get some water in my suit and acclimate. Had a Gu about 15 minutes before start.
