Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good. Water temp was nice, was good to have time to get in the water beforehand. No problems with the swim just slow. What would you do differently?: Nothing, really. Just need more practice. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. Wetsuit off easily. 3rd fasted T1 in my age group. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Actually felt like a good bike ride. Didn't start with any major uphills so got to recover from the swim a little. Drank gatorade which was great (instead of water + Gu). Used the drops a bit, feeling more comfortable there. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: This transition didn't feel very smooth, but still 3rd fastest in my age group. Tried to take my feet out of shoes while still on bike...FAIL. Need to practice that :-) Felt uncoordinated after bike racked. What would you do differently?: ??? Run
Comments: I didn't like the run. Wasn't mentally prepared for trail, and it was pretty hilly. My water was too warm, and I felt like I was getting baked by the sun. The wooden boardwalk at the end was annoying, I couldn't tell where the end was and I got fairly frustrated. I was pleased that I ran fairly well off the bike, though. What would you do differently?: Just need to run more. Post race
Warm down: Ate some watermelon and banana. Had to walk about 1/2 mile to the transition area to pack up, then ride the bike 4 miles back to the parking area (I would have waited for a shuttle but didn't want to wait). Had to walk the bike up the big hill. Got sunburned :-( What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: Another nice event by RaceTri, they are well organized and have a lot of volunteers. I just wasn't mentally into this race...too many races this month wiped me out. Got up pretty early, about 515am. Packed the night before so just had to make some bkfst to eat on the way (toast with PB), grab water bottles out of the freezer, and get going. Took about an hour to get to Francis (where parking was), got there about 6:30.
FOUR MILE BIKE RIDE from Francis to the transition setup area. It was chilly; I had a jacket but not long pants or gloves. There is a steep downhill coming out of town...not comfortable when it's cold and you're wearing a heavy backpack. Anyway, transition setup was easy, then just hung around and ate a Clif bar (yummy). Started getting the wetsuit on during RD meeting. Oly started first so had plenty of time to get the wetsuit on and get in the water a little bit.
