Swim
Comments: Decent swim. Our wave didn't seem to thin out until turning the first corner. Seemed like I passed a lot of people, but hard to tell. 1:05 faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I pondered not using the wetsuit, but glad I did. Transition 1
Comments: Way faster T1 than last year (almost 3mins). Suit stuck on my hands again (??). Otherwise smooth. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good actually. My quads were burning going up that hill, not sure I could have gone any faster. I passed a lot of people, and some even walked up the last bit of hill. The flats and downhills were good, I was in the drops alot. Took a Gu with about 3 miles left. 5:47 faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Probably should have drank a little more. Otherwise good ride. Transition 2
Comments: I actually got my feet out of the shoes while riding! Racked close to bike entrance. Walked through transition (planned). Run
Comments: Walked most of the uphills. Flats were feeling pretty good so I ran a little faster. Felt decent. Started to get hot in the last half, the sun was coming out more. Tried to sprint in at the end but I was pretty blasted. 3:05 faster than last year. What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
Warm down: Laid in the grass for a while, eating watermelon and drinking water. Walked around a little, got my stuff from transition. What limited your ability to perform faster: I haven't been training like I should. One of these days I'll stop being such a slacker.... Event comments: As usual for RaceTri, a nice race. Was pretty frustrated that we started so late. (We waited for two more shuttles to come in - if I can get my butt out of bed at 4:50am to get setup and ready to go on time why can't everyone else?) Woke at 4:50. Brush teeth, dress, pour gatorade into bottles, make toast w/pb and a chocolate milk. Ate breakfast while driving. Got to T2 a little before 6a. T2 was in a different place from last year, so had to walk a ways to set up, no biggie. Aired up bike tires and road up the the res to set up T1 (about 2 mile ride up hill). Got to T1 about 6:40a, got timing chip and body marked. Set up T1 close to the swim exit. Ate half of a Clif Bar and drank some water and gatorade. Race started late so just hung around and waited, waited, waited....
My wave was last, so I had lots of time to hang out in the res getting used to the water. Was pretty nice actually. Ate a Gu about 15 minutes before start.
