Overall Rank = 257/389
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 16/29
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early (4:45am) & took in 2 eggs/toast w/ PB, 1/2 of DC & OJ. Drank mixed drink on way up. Nap in car for short period of time.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 29m 16s
  • 880 yards
  • 03m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

They gave us extra time between waves to make sure that the swimmers were getting off okay. There was at least 2-4 swimmers that came back with the 1st kayak (that boy was a busy boy)!
I was scared to see that many men (including "ellte" men that came back in so quickly).
What would you do differently?:

Not swim if I see waves like that!!!!!!
Transition 1
  • 03m 33s
What would you do differently?:

Maybe jog a bit earlier coming out of the water but I really didn't know if I was going to continue on with this tri.
Bike
  • 39m 26s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 18.87 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I might have been able to ride slightly faster but not much!
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Ran past a girl that couldn't get out of her shoe (that she left in the cleats) on T2. She eventually ran past me (1/2 way through the run).
What would you do differently?:

Not much!
Run
  • 27m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I probably could have run slightly harder. But I was happy to be steady & consistent.
Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming was fucking hard!

Event comments:

The race would have been a great race course if the swim wasn't so bad. They could have used 2 more kayakers at least (but I am sure they didn't think it was going to be so crazy windy).

Course: Out & back on a gravel/dirt road (which I was not aware of). One water station above the hill just before the 1 mile mark. Didn't take any. Flat, short hill up & gradual down-hill from mile 1 to 1.5, gradual up-hill 1.5-2 & then hill down & flat into the finish. NOt a bad course at all. Ran moderate but not super-make-me-puke hard.
