Swim
Comments: Yum! I drank a ton of water. I don't think I will ever be able to remain calm at the start of the swim. What would you do differently?: Test those goggles. Trust my instinct/knowledge - DON'T CHANGE THE PLAN THE NIGHT BEFORE! Transition 1
Comments: Felt fast enough. Still left with wet socks :( What would you do differently?: dry my feet faster Bike
Comments: I tried for 90 RPM and did it. Guess I just need to gear it harder!? What would you do differently?: Not sure, my HR and RPM's seem pretty good to me. My top speed was only 29.9. I wonder if I pushed harder on the brief downhills I could have made a better time. I've had that bike doing 38 Transition 2
Comments: Only negative - I still struggle to find my spot! Found the gel pack I stashed in running shoe while putting it on! Not a good spot! My Suggestion (I really liked this) SHOE HORN and Strechy laces. It felt really good. I much prefer it to T1. What would you do differently?: Leave gel out of shoe. Put the number in a more prominent spot - had to think to put it on. Run
What would you do differently?: PUSH!!!! I can't believe how slow I went. I was so worried about missing a turn I forgot to look at the Garmin the whole time! Post race
Warm down: Great (but a bit painful) stretch from Hector! What limited your ability to perform faster: My training. I have been sick with sinusitis 2 or 3 times already this year. Really trained at will - not to a plan. Event comments: http://www.albanyrunningexchange.org/results/resultsView.php?ID=257... My Y - My race. I saw people I knew - didn't get hurt, and generally enjoyed the day! It was cold at the start, and most of the way thru the kids race too. I wore my Showers Pass raincoat that I bought last year over my CDTC training shirt was supe comfy! Shed the jacket for the run and it was perfect! Last updated: 2012-04-11 12:00 AM

Got my stuff sorted on the floor Monday or Tuesday. I packed T1 and T2 into separate string top cheap packs. Put T0 into my good pack, and crammed the two string packs on top. Helmet on the outside. I was ready.....
I still struggle with vision issues. I am really nearsighted, and I prefer to run and bike with contacts. But, when I swim at the Y, I wear cheap pseudo-Rx ($20) goggles that help a bit. So, I planned to just wear those, and then leave my regular glasses outside on the bike. I had done some running and biking lately to be sure they'd be OK - and my Rx glasses are pretty sweet Oakley's and they do turn into sunglasses.
Then last night, I panicked about being blind for the hour leaving the transition areas and when my heat was supposed to go. So, I found my non-Rx swim goggles, threw my contacts and non Rx sunnies into the back pack.
I tested the goggles in the shower and they seemed fine.
