Pre-race routine:

Drove down morning of. Race did not start until 10am which is nice. Had my morning coffee and took two peanut butter and jelly bagels for the 2 hour drive.
Event warmup:

Got my packet, set up transition and relaxed. Did a rief swim warm up to check out the water
Swim
  • 30m 19s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water was cold but not uncomfortable. After some initial josteling for position I settled in. This is the easiest sighting swim I have ever done. THe lake water was totally flat. The bouys were plentiful and the yellow turn bouys were easily seen. i was hoping to break 30 mins but ended up at 30:19.
What would you do differently?:

Not a thing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 59s
Comments:

Sluggish in T1. had difficulty getting my suit over my Garmin 910xt.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 52s
  • 23 miles
  • 18.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed it on the bike and felt good. I passed alot of people early on. Got a little tired toward the end but was able to go hard the whole way. Rolling hills, nothing very steep, two loops.
What would you do differently?:

Not a thing.
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

The mount like came up sooner that I anticipated so I did not get my feet out of my shoes like I normally would, so I had to run in my bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Shoes off before dismount.
Run
  • 1h 02m 16s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Gravel road the entire way, gently rolling hills. i went as hard as I could and held it well. It did get warm on the run, but ont toobad. I think I could have pushed a bit harder, had the surface not have been gravel, but I have bad ankles, so I took it easy in spots. To pass other runners, you had to get out of the "tracks" so that was a bit dicey in spots. I was hoping to break 1 hr on the run, but ended at 1:02.
What would you do differently?:

Did my best with the conditions.
Post race
Warm down:

Burger and fries ahhhh

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was very pleased with my performance, PR in all 3.

Event comments:

Kudos to Set up for getting the new venue up and running in a couple days.
