Pre-race routine:

Cliff bar on the way to the race. Got there 1.5 hours early to register and set up my equiptment.
Event warmup:

Swam 200yards about 30mins before the race and did some light stretching
Swim
  • 11m 29s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very good swim for me. I started closer to the front of the wave, about second or third row. This helped the traffic and I was able to get into a good cadence earlier than I normally do. Overall very happy with the swim, sighted well and maintained an easy / relaxed tempo
What would you do differently?:

Not much, maybe pushed a little harder
Transition 1
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

Used the wet suite strippers coming out of the swim which was great. I was a little dizzy coming out of the water. I think this is just due to the colder water temp, had the same feeling in Tremont last year.
What would you do differently?:

Not much here for me, eventually I may try to keep the shoes clipped into the bike
Bike
  • 39m 41s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good bike overall. I was having some gear issues in my previous rides but did not experience these issues during the race. There was ~10-15mph winds out of the west during the race. I was shooting for a slightly faster bike time but I feel like I pushed pretty good so I can't complain. Because I started in the last wave I passed a ton of people on the bike which was pretty fun
What would you do differently?:

Just the usual, train harder on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 39s
Comments:

Pretty good here, the speed laces are nice and make things a little quicker. I have a little more trouble getting my foot in the shoe though but once its in, the laces are definitely quicker
My bike rack was about as far from the bike in as it possibly could be so much of this time was me running the bike to the rack
What would you do differently?:

pretty good for me, not much
Run
  • 24m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

This was slower than I wanted but looking at the heart rate monitor I was pushing pretty good.
Post race
Event comments:

This is the second time I have done this race. It is one of the most orgainzed events with tons of volunteers. Will be doing this race every year if I can.
