Swim
Comments: the water was rough and there was lots of bodies banging around. I felt relaxed and just kind of went with it.. What would you do differently?: learn to swim faster. Transition 1
Comments: no issues with T1 Bike
Comments: had a mechanical issue at mile 10. that took 5 minutes, but the first 40 miles was pretty good. had some issues trying to get around slower riders that were riding in groups. Lower back started to bother me around mile 40. rode the last 18 miles on the hoods. What would you do differently?: work on pacing. Do a better job with my nutrition. Transition 2
Run
Comments: this is where the wheels came off. I was fighting my stomach and lower back and just trying to run. First lap was not too hot, but the second lap was insanely hot. Got sick at mile 10. Ended up walking until mile 12 and than limped it home. I went into this race worried about an ankle injury that I knew would not allow me to push the pace. Never got the chance to try and go fast. What would you do differently?: Nutrition, nutrition..... Post race
Warm down: ice, stretch What limited your ability to perform faster: injuries, poor nutrition, heat Event comments: Race was very well organized. My only issue was all of the drafting and group riding on the bike course. I spent 2 miles behind a truck that could not get around a group of riders. I will be back next year.
