Swim
Comments: The transition time is not in the results so I assume that T1 is included in here. My guess is that I had about a 2:30 T1 - so that would put my swim at 4:24 or 2:12/100 - not terrible for me. I was even able to pass a few folks. With that said, I completely lost my form as soon as I realized that I couldn't see. I didn't trust my siting and my head kept popping up. This caused my HR to be elevated when I got out of the water. What would you do differently?: Still need a lot of work on my swim. This distance was short enough that I felt comfortable, but I've got to get my form and endurance improved. Also, getting used to OWS will help. Transition 1
Comments: Not sure of the time, but I did ok. Bike
Comments: Pleased with my bike. I still haven't mastered clipless pedals yet, so I might have given away a little speed there. I passed several people and was passed a few times - the problem was that it seemed like everyone that passed me was in my AG. I was still strained from the swim so I had to take it easy for the first mile or so - after that, I was able to pick up a little more speed. Transition 2
Comments: I already had my running shoes on so any time that I lost on the bike, I probably made up here. What would you do differently?: I hope to use cycling shoes in my next race - just need to get ready for that. Run
Comments: Not terrible - it seemed to take the 1st 1/2 of the run to get my legs back under me. I was going pretty slow at the beginning. I was able to pick it up towards the end. I was hoping for a better time, but I didn't miss my goal by much What would you do differently?: Just need to push harder Post race
Event comments: Good race - it was a lot of fun to be surrounded by a lot of beginners and feel like you're in the same boat as everyone else. The swim is still holding me back and I hope to improve it as the year goes on. Last updated: 2012-04-19 12:00 AM
