Swim
Comments: It was only a fair swim for me. My sighting was poor and I never found someone to draft. I tried to be consistent and plug along, but I never felt like I was up to my capable speed. What would you do differently?: Longer interval training Transition 1
Comments: Decent transition. In out and ready to go. Bike
Comments: Not bad under trying conditions. Transition 2
Comments: Goofy deal on helmet...I couldn't get the strap undone. Struggled with that for many wasted seconds. Finally got it but I wasted a lot of time. Otherwise, decent. What would you do differently?: Not screw up on the helmet strap Run
Comments: Wow. Very hot and hard. The hills right off out of T2 nearly killed me. That first mile was LONG. But I knew I would finally get loose which happened around mile 3. I took Gatorade at every water station and actually stopped to drink due to the heat. Then I poured a glass of water over my head and started running again. Pretty solid running between mile 3-5.5, but at the end there was not much left. Post race
Warm down: Not much. Hung out. Drank water. Ate food. AFter that I had to head back to the hotel and pack my bike for the afternoon flight. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Plus I did the Napa Tri 2 weeks ago. But, it was a decent outing for me and I'm satisfied with a 9th overall. Event comments: The HITS series does a good job. I've now done two of their races. The transition areas they set are the best. All stations are pre-agssigned by number...so while you may not get the spot you want, you are guaranteed of a spot all your own with your own storage box. So, you don't have to get to the race at the crack of dawn to grab a transition spot. Last updated: 2012-04-20 12:00 AM

Got up around 5:00. Ate a banana, took a couple of ibuprophen and grabbed a cup of coffee. Drove over to the race site to get a parking spot. Then I ate a bagel and grabbed my stuff to set up in the transition area.
Ran a little, maybe 800 yards. That was about it. Should have done more, but they didn't want us in the water.
