Run
Comments: Planned to do 9:1 run/walk, but the water stations weren't in the right places and my HR watch doesn't show seconds after 1 hour. So the 9:1 got very irregular. I did not take any walk breaks the last 3 miles (10 miles was the last walk break). What would you do differently?: Would be nice to try this without the back injury ;-) Post race
Warm down: Walking. Light stretching. Bike ride home. Stretch. Ice feet. Foam roller. What limited your ability to perform faster: Continue training program up to race event. Had a lot of life chaos in the week leading up to the race, and instead of tapering/recovering it was more like "completely stop training." I did feel a bit sluggish the first half - but not at all tired. Event comments: Fun race. Nice to be so nearby and ride my bike to the start and home again (no traffic/parking issues!). Elites are crazy stupid scary fast. Late addendum: I was wondering about my time and slightly disappointed when I got the printed results at the race finish - they had a computer station that printed out a little slip of paper that said I finished 2:10:18. I looked at my heart rate monitor just after the finish and it said 2:08 - just chalked this up to maybe my cheap Polar HRM doesn't keep accurate time - or so I thought. Now when I look at the online results, it gave me the finishing time of 2:08:44 - I think I will go with this result, because I really do believe it is more accurate.
