Comments: Tried to go out easy. Felt good about the first 2 miles. Mile 3 was too easy as I bucked the wind and stayed behind someone most of the way across the Lake/Marshall Bridge. Tried to pick it up after that, but 6:01 was too slow. Finished strong with a good negative split. Could have pushed more at mile 3, but would I have died before the finish?... What would you do differently?: Try pushing the effort a bit more in mile 3 and 4. Post race
Warm down: Jogged back to car pretty quick. It was raining, and I couldn't stay warm after finishing. Event comments: The roads were a little rough near the edges, and the water stop should be moved closer to the Lake Bridge (right now it was right at the base of that killer hill, so it's hard to drink and be out of breath - dumb). 2 packets of oatmeal 2.5 hours pre-race. Most of a PowerBar about 1 hour pre-race. And a Roctane (Island Nectar) about 25 minutes pre-race.
Parked behind Bakers Square in St. Paul, so I ran there, back to car, and back to race. Stretched a little before running back to race.
