Pre-race routine:

Stonyfield farm yogurt smoothie and some toast.
Took the bus from Old Key West to EPCOT at about 0420 and got to the staging area as they were moving out waves B and getting C ready to move. Oops- they saw the A on my bib and told me I was late and would have to move up to get to my wave. Oh well- it all worked out. Started as A-2 in the first wave.

Walk from the staging area at EPCOT to the actual start- probably about a mile???

Comments:

Wanted to run sub 2 but it took 12 minutes to get through the first mile and then stopped to pee during the second mile so that was 12 minutes too. Was already 6 minutes behind and had a marathon to run the next day so just took it easy and ran 10 min miles the rest of the morning. Drank watered down Poweraid and ate one GU. OMG hot and humid, didn't feel terribly good at the finish. Not tired from too much effort but overwarm and maybe underhydrated.
What would you do differently?:

Self seed further up in the wave so it's not sooo slow starting out. I keep thinking I'm a loosy runner and seed back further than I probably should.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked over and got my orange Goofy band cut off and the blue one put on. It was kind of like a triathlon in that I was banded all weekend.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow start, heat and humidity. The knowledge that I was doing a freaking marathon the next day.

Event comments:

Post race food much better than in 2006. Am already signed up to go Goofy again in 2008.
