Total Time = 1h 31m 33s
Overall Rank = 229/647
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 38/48
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, ate a half bagel with almond butter and banana and drank some water. Got out to the transition early to get everything set up and drank water while waiting.
Swim
  • 16m 42s
  • 547 yards
  • 03m 03s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started out feeling great on the swim then, when I made the first turn, the waves started getting to me. Some we large, some were small but every one of them blocked my breathing so the second leg was a wash. Once I rounded the second buoy though everything got better and I re-settled in to complete the swim.
What would you do differently?:

More training with waves, learning to catch and ride them while swimming at an ankle.
Transition 1
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

Transition wasn't too bad but I made the mistake of leaving the shoes clipped in with little to no practice jumping on the new bike.
What would you do differently?:

Practice jumping on the new bike.
Bike
  • 41m 43s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.88 mile/hr
Comments:

Headwind on the way out tailwind on the way back, just like I like it. Pushed moderately while biking out and then hammered it as hard as I could coming back since I had no idea if my ankle would be any good for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, continue headwind work and getting faster on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Not a bad transition. Had a good dismount of the bike and got all my running stuff on pretty quickly. Socks still take a while to get on though.
What would you do differently?:

Quick laces back on the shoes. Too much time tying and re-tying.
Run
  • 28m 19s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

With only running a total of 5.5 miles for training in the last two months, I'm very happy with this run. Thought I was gonna be in trouble at first, but it was just me being tentative to get going. Walked the water stops just to keep the legs fresh but overall very happy with the run.
What would you do differently?:

Now that the ankle is good, its back to training to continue getting faster.
Post race
Event comments:

These guys put on a world-class event and I'll continue to run the TX3 series while I'm in the area.
