Swim
Comments: I spent the first leg getting warmed up. Second leg was fine, third felt ok, but I felt a little wheezy for some reason. Just some chest pressure and the feeling that I wasn't getting a full breath. Interesting, just took note of it and went on. Before my wave started, someone from the blue caps was brought back to shore. This was in my head a little bit when I felt the tight chest - I am sure that under more difficult circumstances that could lead to some trouble, at least mentally. What would you do differently?: I think I need to do a swim warm-up. It might help me not feel so stiff in the first leg. Transition 1
Comments: Ran to transition. Did not drink anything, just got going. Bike
Comments: Jumped on my bike and realized that my seat was way low. Dag-nabbit, why didn't I check that?? Once again, my computer was on the wrong setting and I didn't want to fool with it. Breathing hard in the first couple of miles, then again from about mile 8 onward. I think I worked a lot harder on this bike segment. I passed more confidently. I was passed, also, but I feel like I was in the right ballpark in terms of speed. Did not use new aerobars. New seat felt a tad narrow. What would you do differently?: Check seat height. Duh! I absolutely need to bike more. Transition 2
Comments: Drank a few times before heading out. Run
Comments: I felt good for this segment, especially for the first mile. I was passed right away (in the first mile) by a couple of ladies in my AG who ran 2nd and 3rd fastest run times. I could not have kept up with them, but having been ahead of them up until then was at least nice. Still, all went well, I worked hard and really gave a good effort esp. in the last half mile. My time was ok for this course. What would you do differently?: Keep working on run fitness. I am definitely seeing some improvement! Post race
Warm down: Met up with my husband and kids, had some gatorade and collected my stuff. I decided to skip the awards ceremony. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim form, bike practice and run fitness Event comments: I really enjoy this series. Great people, well organized and a nice setting. As for my time, I am really pleased with this race! I felt that it had been a good effort and maybe faster than my last PR (1:29:35). When the times were put up, I was really happy with the overall result, especially bike. Swim, gosh, I have lots of room for improvement there. Last updated: 2012-05-01 12:00 AM

Awake before the alarm went off. Showered and dressed, had coffee and a pb&j for breakfast. Loaded the bike and drove to the county park. I picked out a rack spot that was close to my last spot and happened to be in the same row as a few people who I knew. Talked a bit, walked around and tried to get mentally prepared.
None. I might need to start doing at least a swim warm-up! I think I could have used that.
