Swim
Comments: Good swim, just took it at a nice pace as this was the first race of the year and not excepting much. breathing and HR felt fine the whole time and seemed to spot well and hit all the buoys dead-on. What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace just a tad. Transition 1
Comments: Ran to bike and had wetsuit down around waist already, as I bent over to pull it off ankles I started getting dizzy. Almost had to hold onto rack for a few seconds. Got suit off and was on my way. What would you do differently?: Stop getting dizzy. Bike
Comments: Saw esley just ahead of me on the bike, maybe 100-150 yards. Suprised he beat me out of the water. Tried to real him in a few times, got to within 20-40 yards but he pulled away again. Made for a fun ride. What would you do differently?: Catch Wesley Transition 2
Comments: Flew into T2, racked bike, dropped helmet, slid on shoes, grabed visor and run belt and took off. Put on visor and run belt as I was running out of T2. What would you do differently?: nada, steller Run
Comments: Saw Wesley was pulling away by mile 2 and thought HR was maxed so if he was faster then good for him. Turns out he ran 6:50s, crazy fast for him at an Oly race. Thats Sprint race pace. He just ran away from me and took me by 4 mins overall. Saw Capt about 1/4 mi from the finsh and slapped him on the ass. What would you do differently?: run faster with lower HR...lol Post race
Warm down: walked around after talking shist with Wesley at finishline. Saw Capt, Dale, got some free stuff, pizza, shirt, etc. What limited your ability to perform faster: First race of the season. Always tough starting off with an Oly. Run just didnt feel good but times/splits are dead-on and a 1sec per mile PR. So cant be to disappointed. Event comments: Always do WPL, kinda miss the Hot weather as I like HARD races. But did enjoy the fast course in April. Last updated: 2012-05-01 12:00 AM

Flew in from Amsterdam the day before and had been up 21hrs. Went to sleep the night before the race at 7pm after 2 glasses of red wine and an ambien. Slept like a baby til 3:45 when alarm went off.
Got to site around 5:30, set up, warm up run, then saw I had a flat on the rear wheel, took bike over to Bill from Goldens Bikes and they swapped out tune in about 5mins, good to roll.
Little run around parking lot next to transision, then the excitment of having a pre-race flat 45mins before the start.
