Swim
Comments: Despite the lower ranking, I had a good swim today. I raced my own race, and didn't try to push it with others. I chose to line up to the far right which kept me out of the wash, which I believe led to a better swim overall. I really tried to focus and work on rhythm and breathing, and this seemed to help. What would you do differently?: Nothing, but I need to continue to apply this strategy. As I think about it, this was really only my second swim of this length in open water, so there is definitely room for improvement. Transition 1
Comments: I'm definitely struggling with this aspect of the race and I don't even think I'll attempt it for HITS next month (It's a 70.3, so shouldn't matter too much). What would you do differently?: Figure out how to get my shoes on easier next time. Bike
Comments: Again, my age group and overall rank were lower, but in terms of racing my own race, I saw improvements from previous races. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Transition 2
Comments: Dismount went well this time, but I had a little trouble finding my spot in transition, simply do to a lack of concentration. What would you do differently?: Concentrate more. Run
Comments: No surprises, I'm still a stronger runner by far, compared to other areas. I had an awesome run, and felt really strong the whole time. Post race
Event comments: This race had some challenges in terms of making adjustments because of the High Park Fire nearby. The organizers did an excellent job of making sure the race happened despite these challenges. Would have liked a little more detail about run course changes (in terms of knowing the change in distance), but this truly was a great race. Last updated: 2012-05-01 12:00 AM

Got into Greeley late on Friday so did my packet pickup on Saturday Morning. This was a big event with around 500 participants in the race. I had just enough time to get my transition area set up, and to take care of pre-race business.
