Comments: Show and go with 25, Metric, century with bail out, Century. At 103 mile distance there is ~7000' of climbing There was a reported vandal that blacked out the pavement cue's in Emmittsburg around mile 90 and spray painted the same course mark with correct shade of paint directing riders back into PA and into nowhere. Our group turned around at mile 105 adding 17 miles and an additional 1500' of climbing. Ended up being a good training day. For the others that weren't IM training it was more difficult to find the silver lining. What would you do differently?: Use a cue sheet Post race
Warm down: drive home What limited your ability to perform faster: Paced for the group I was with. Too long at stops. Event comments: The century has excellent feed stations. Its a great ride with plenty of climbing on mostly good roads. For $35 and the opportunity to be on a large group ride its a great value. Don't count on volunteers or course markings to point you in the right direction. Many of the markings didn't give enough time to navigate the turn. If you missed the one mark you're done because there's not a second. Couple that with vandals miss marking the course and you could be in for a world of hurt. The bicycle club doesn't hand out cue sheets till the event start. Get a cue sheet, wrap it in plastic and tape it to your bar...you'll need it. Really did enjoy the ride.
