Swim
Comments: I thought that this swim went better than the Marquee, I had much better navigation, actually had some technique, never stopped, didn't flip over for the back stroke, did some drafting, I thought that I kept my head in the water, better breathing, but came in slower by a minute than the Marquee. Huh??? Maybe b/c I didn't go with a wetsuit??? I've read that it could help out by about 5%, if true than I beat my previous time, by 1 min. And that's what if more or less felt like to me. What would you do differently?: I just have to swim, once our public pool opens up. Transition 1
Comments: No problems here, could have done it faster, but wasn't really trying to hard, just giving myself some time to regroup and lower HR after swim. This was about the same time as the Marquee. What would you do differently?: Just do it faster. Bike
Comments: Based on the ranking of 3rd, I know that I can get to #1 or #2 in biking. I've just got to continue the improvements that I'm seeing on biking, lots of LT improvement work. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: I kind of took my time with this transition, I doused ice water on myself to drop my HR, took my time putting on socks (since my shoes chewed up my bare feet last time), put on the race number, got 2 mini nathan bottles for running. I was about 40 sec slower than last time. What would you do differently?: Just do it faster. Run
Comments: Don't know what happend and why I was slower, perhaps just b/c a slight difference in the course, or perhaps slightly longer than Marquee, also perhaps the heat, which can add up to 5 beats or more. I'll have to compare my Garmin info. I started running by POSE technique and felt my technique was better. I had one mile that was sub 7', better than Marquee, and the last half mile was 6' 25" to finish line. My hammies weren't as torn up as last time. Don't know why slower??? Only thing that I can say is perhaps those uphill things going on to the bridges, they were tough and the second lap, I felt that I was walking. What would you do differently?: My running has hit a ceiling, I have been training with hard intervals, but clearly I have to change my training approach to get faster. What I'm doing is not showing any improvements, except in very short term speed. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank, ate some fruit and eggs. Went to a therapy tent had some work done on my hammies. What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact that I can't train for swimming, and have to figure out what's wrong with my running. Event comments: Overall, I improved by over 1 minute, actually about 2 min, when considering my slower transition times, this is due mainly to my biking. Running was the same, and swimming slower???? Perhaps, having no wetsuit??? When I consider how hard I went on each event, right at LT, I don't think that I could have gone any faster without blowing up. I have lots more work to do this summer. This was a smaller race, perhaps since the Tempe Int'l is next week, the field is split up. I notice that there are about 300 each at the events, they should merge and make it a grand event. They also could have used more water stations for the run to keep everyone hydrated. Last updated: 2012-05-06 12:00 AM

Same as last time, woke up at 4am, had Mcdonald's Mcgriddle egg and cheese, coffee and chocolate milk. Then drank water.
Since there was a longer delay to the start, I took advantage to do more stretching and light running strides.
