Swim
Comments: I swam about the time I thought, maybe a minute or so slower. This was my first swim. I ended up back floating more than I wanted and several times I let people pass (if they asked), only for me to catch up and be kicked in the head which slowed me down. What would you do differently?: I would learn to swim much earlier, but now at least I have a baseline. Transition 1
Comments: This was pretty straightforward. It was cold outside with the rain and my feet were wet even after drying off. I had crammed my bag too tight trying to keep everything dry, so I was slower than I thought I would be. What would you do differently?: Not double bag my stuff and bring a hard case Bike
Comments: The bike was the bike, a pretty straightforward course making a loop. This is where my swim time got me. Since I was pretty much the last out of the pool, from starting towards the end. There were no bikers in sight. I caught a couple of people, but with no one to really ride and push me, I went a little slower than I thought. I also think it was slightly longer than 10.5 What would you do differently?: I need to do more biking, I had swam before this trying to learn and I was already run training, but I did almost no biking and it was reflected in my time. Transition 2
Comments: I came in here and it was hard as there were some runners coming back already. I had a bulge in my sock so I had to take off my show and adjust. I thought about putting on dry socks, but just said the heck with it and took off. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, maybe just make sure my socks/shoes are on better before the bike. Run
Comments: I took off and no one really around. I wasn't wearing my Garmin so I have no idea how fast I was going. I think the first half I went much slower than I could have. The second half I picked up my pace and sprinted the last 1/4 mile. This was my best event of the three. What would you do differently?: Run a little harder in the beginning. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and Milanos sandwiches. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training. I need to learn to swim and do more bike workouts Event comments: This was my first Triathalon and I was glad that it was in the pool for the swim. This also made the other portions difficult as I started about 17 min after everyone else, which meant that it was almost like a training outing and not really a race. It was raining which slowed me in the transitions and initial run. The setup in back with the bikes and the timing chips was good. I liked the help with stretching before hand and the space for spectators. Overall a good event. Last updated: 2012-05-07 12:00 AM
