Swim
Comments: Work on speeding up my swim. What would you do differently?: Pay more attention to the traffic, got caught up a bit and slowed down fighting the crowds. Transition 1
Comments: Lots of squirrely people at the transition exit, jogged past to mouth and was almost taken out by a guy falling into me. SCARY! What would you do differently?: Avoid more of the crowd, transition exit was tight and really clogged with short course athletes on mountain bikes. Bike
Comments: Need more hill work and really need a bike fit for the aero bars. What would you do differently?: Nothing, overall a good effort Transition 2
Comments: Slipped on the cleats dismounting and went down. Not bad just surprising. Racked the bike and into the shoes quickly. Great transition What would you do differently?: Nothing, I hope all my T2's are this good. Run
Comments: Decent run, I was hoping to maintain 8:15 but the hills and footing made that tough. Overall a decent run coming off the bike, negative split the second half which was good. What would you do differently?: Not much, pretty good run overall. Post race
Warm down: Walked to transition to grab my recovery drink and packed up. Event comments: I can't believe that a race that has been in existence for 30 years and that charges this much, doesn't cover parking in the park, doesn't have finisher medals or decent post race activities. As someone who is connected to several races I know that a little reinvestment goes a long way and they fail miserably. This is obviously a family that is more interested in lining their pockets with cash than they are taking care of the athletes. The Expo was almost nonexistent, there was little to no finish line support, a half a peanut butter sandwich and half a banana. Water only on the course with very limited volunteer support. It is unfortunate because the race itself was good but I will avoid it in the future unless they decide to step up and put some of the money back into the race. When will these Race Directors learn that without athletes they won't have races. Last updated: 2012-05-09 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30AM when I realized I forgot to charge my dead Garmin. Plugged it to get at least a little charge and prayed it would last. Water and coffee with a banana. Drove to the park and checked in, set up transition and had more water and a Power Bar Krunch.
Stretched and chilled before the start. Put on the wetsuit and went to start line. Jumped in and swam a little to warm up the arms.
