Swim
Comments: Lake Michigan is always a fun place to swim. The conditions were just about perfect. I finally had a decent swim with a PR!! No complaints What would you do differently?: nothing...took my time at the start and found a great rythym before the first buoy Transition 1
Comments: even the strippers had a hard time getting my suit over my heels. NOt sure what happens. ;-) went for sunscreen application, then my t1 location. All went as planned. As usual the run on the beach is killer. What would you do differently?: get in better shape to run harder on the beach Bike
Comments: At Racine, I experience the same problem EVERY YEAR!!! at mile 40 my inner thighs cramp and it's a pure sufferfest the last 16 miles of the ride. I've tried everything from different fueling, starting slower, stopping at the first two aid stations. Nothing changes...mile 40 is the start of my death zone. Interestingly, shortly after (while still cramping) I got a penalty for drafting. Had a women with a camelback in front of me...just coasting. So I made the pass, but she decided to speed up. I immediately backed off because of the cramps. As I backed off, she continued to slow...I would have had to brake to get back 4 bike lengths. The official stung me for a yellow. I just want to say, that I'm not a drafter, never would be. And as far as I'm concerned, the camelback chick was just as much as fault. She should have let me pass rather than pushing it. What would you do differently?: figure out a way to stop the cramping. I don't know what causes it. my PT seems to think its a technique issues when I start to fatigue. It didn't happen in Kansas. So makes me wonder, if it has something to do with hill recoveries during a hillier race Vs. the flats of Wisconsin. Transition 2
Comments: zipped out of t2 after reporting my penalty Run
Comments: I like this run! I train on the course, so know it very well. I under-fueled and hydrated on the bike and it caught up with me on the run. Severe cramping the entire 2nd lap. But I kept going. What would you do differently?: hydrate, salt and fuel on the bike more Post race
Event comments: Very well run! Great volunteers, spectators and residents! It was a great day...I wouldn't miss this event!! Last updated: 2012-05-09 12:00 AM
