Pre-race routine:

5am wake up and 15 minute ride to the race.
Event warmup:

I wanted to swim a bit but there was no real time to get it done. Had a gu 20 mins before. Cut my foot on a sharp rock in the water.

It seemed like a bit of a current coming across on the way out and then straight into a current for the bulk of the race. Not sure how accurate the course was or if the current slowed me down.

This was off my garmin. I kept my cadence high and never really pushed hard but gave a solid effort. Not passed by many people. I thought my avg would be a bit faster but there were some techincal turns and the road in and out was flooded and in bad condidtion.

My plan was to take it very very easy on the run because I have my first HIM in two weeks. My avg speed was way faster than I intended but I literally passed nobody and got passed by well over 100 people. I ran the first mile in 10 minutes and then picked it up a little for the last two. Took two short walk breaks to slow myself down and check on an injured runner. I usually do my training runs in the 10:45-11:45 pace but I feel like I did not shred myself with todays run.
