Run
Comments: Pleased with this pace. I held myself back too for fear of imploding later. What would you do differently?: Maybe...maybe push harder. Hey, I may surprise myself and NOT have a heart attack if I ran faster LOL Transition 1
Comments: Managed to change up ok. Muddy conditions in transition area from days of rain but not too bad with mats put down. Bike
Comments: Was feeling great at first... nice pace-- had 2 miles where i was hitting mid 20's for pace. But as the race progressed...I was getting cold and the wind was beating on me. I secretly hoped the race folks would come out and tell us the race was discontinued due to the weather..partly because my thighs were just not up to snuff to keep a strong pace for the duration.I must admit...had some good laughs out on the course. Total endurance test with the cold and rain and just the fact that I was out there and enjoying it in spite of it, made it worth it. Did see a serious wipe out though. Conditions were not conducive to best racing but in my mind, the thought of a nice hot bath at the end and the thought of more heavier storms due made me push harder. What would you do differently?: get out and ride more. Transition 2
Comments: sneakers were water logged...squeaky waterlogged!!! Hands were getting stiff from cold. Run
Comments: i was feelin' my fatigue but was cracking up alot at the conditions! Kept passing and getting passed by the same guy but finally pulled ahead of him toward the finish. Yay! Post race
Warm down: I know they were providing french toast for food and I love that vs the usual Arbys or the like but I just wanted to get home and get dry. Grabbed a water and an orange slice and boogied on back to get my bike and gear. By the time I got home, it realllllly started to come down. Whew! What limited your ability to perform faster: rain Event comments: Too bad the weather didn't cooperate. But nice race to kick off the season. Last updated: 2012-05-11 12:00 AM

Peanut butter on toast, coffee, diet pepsi and tried some pre race drink mix - meh. Checked the weather and rain was due to hit again and hoped it would hold off til after the race.
Event was within 2 miles of home so I rode my bike over. Set up, then waited in porto potty line. Then stretched.
