Pre-race routine:

Up at 6:15, ate oatmeal for breakfast, dressed and out the door by 6:45 with tires pumped up - the park is like 10mins from the house
Event warmup:

got to the race, marked up and chip - ran about mile and managed to swim a little - it was cool but not cold.

First ever open water swim - good news is I did not drown - but my sighting was terrible - got off course at least twice

Could not get clipped in - uphill start to bike made the first part so hard.

Rode very hard , passed a bunch of folks (no one passed me)- had to pass sometimes on the other side of the yellow line - made a couple of not so great passes but people were NOT moving over.

Ran without socks and it was fine (did body glide before the race) - it was a tough course
What would you do differently?:

Run harder in the first mile - I had run the course in the heat and was too conservative the first mile.

Rough week and not enough rest; I was also concerned about the open water swim and could have done better here for sure

Event comments:

It is a good race; well organized and well supported. I truly enjoyed the race.
