Comments: see above What would you do differently?: Start out closer to the start line and find some fast feet to follow. Transition 1
Comments: Ok, so this was a first, uggg!! I practiced several times in the yard this week too, idiot! I got to T1 and put helmet on, check, pull wetsuit down to heals and what is that? oh my effing bike shoes are stil on freakin idiot so I scramble to get them off and finish taking off wetsuit, that cost me some seconds. What would you do differently?: Helmet on, shoes off, suit off, shoes on, grab bike, gooooo! Bike
Comments: Ok, this was crazy, I was flying down a small hill when all of a sudden my chain seized up on me, WTF??!! I couldn't believe it, I didn't really know what to do, this never happened before, if the chain falls, I could keep riding and usually get it back up but this was just stopped and I was afraid to break it so I pulled off to the side. Because I had serious train brain, my brain won't funtion well, it's like it's many degrees dumber than normal :) so I took of back wheel (probably unnecessary in hindsite) and put wheel and chain back on. Getting back wheel on is always a problem for me and my training partner usually helps, there were bad words flying out of my mouth as I kept trying to get the damned thing back on, ug, I was beyond frustrated, it finally got back on and off I went but not before I wasted in my estimation from beginning of pullover to peddling again minamum of 7min and maybe up to 10min of wasted time. So back on bike I decided to throw my "race plan" out the frigggin window, I wanted to give it everything I had, podium was in my sites and I wanted to try and keep it there come what may. Went harder than in any race I've done and really didn't know how this would effect my run, it was an experiement for sure. What would you do differently?: Know how to get the wheel on and off very easily, this would have saved precious minutes, urrrrrrr!! Transition 2
Comments: Unfotunately the person next to me put their bike very close to my spot which was on the end and it was difficult to get mine on, his bars were getting in my way, my shoes were also hard to get to. The shoe part was probably my fault, maybe I was trying to be polite and keep them right under rack, screw that, I'm now putting them out further so I can reach more easily. What would you do differently?: see above Run
Comments: See run comments to the side....... >>>>> What would you do differently?: Nothing, I'm taking note so I kick it harder next year in the bike and run, I've been holding back apparently ;) Post race
Warm down: 2x chocolate milk, pizza, gabbing with my friends. This is my favorite race, seemed all my tri folk friends were there, so fun! What limited your ability to perform faster: Of course the bike issue, that was very bad and I would have easily gotten 2nd place if not for that, ugh! Event comments: This was a great race as usual and this year it was a learning experience b/c of the bike issue, I had to really push the boundaries and I came out on top, that was very cool, I enjoyed digging deep, think pissed off/frustration is a good thing for my brain, I just wanted to go as hard as I could. Oh dear, this is way late to post a race report, so I can't remember what I ate urrr. Guessing the usual egg, toast, coffee, maybe yogurt and a bar or something later on.
Got in water and tried loosening up, just a few minutes tho, not nearly enough time to actually get warmed up but at least it was something.
