Run
Comments: The beginning was VERY hard with the usual too fast start plus the gradual uphill. We were behind a pretty big group at first, so didn't feel the effects of the wind. I was thinking I couldn't possibly keep up and then we made it over the hill. It was hard, but manageable for a mile. Then my friend started to fall back a little, so I dialed it back too. I really came to run with her and I didn't feel any need to push it. This is a fun race - good crowds, good value and you don't have to suffer for too long :) The results page shows my time as 8:52 but that is clearly the race time, not chip time (which they also show). My actual chip time was 8:34. My PR at this race is 7:47 and that was in the opposite direction, so mostly uphill. I am not sure I could repeat that (it was a few years ago), but it might be fun next year to see how hard I can go. Post race
Warm down: We walked back to our bikes and biked home (about 9 miles), via Punch Pizza for dinner. What a fun adventure! Event comments: TCM always puts on good events. The post race water bottle was a bit "average", but it was just a mile race so I don't expect a banquet either. Last updated: 2012-05-15 12:00 AM

This race is in the evening, so I went to work as usual... I rode my bike from work to downtown Minneapolis (about 7 miles) and it was very hot and windy. I met my friend, who I planned to run with, at her corporate team meet-up. The nice thing was I could run with her in the corporate wave and the race organizers didn't care, because it's fully chip timed. This meant I started about 30 minutes before the open wave.
We took a leisurely walk to the start, checked bags, etc. No warmup other than the bike ride (which ended about 1 hour before the start).
