Swim
Comments: Swim went much better than expected, as this was my first tri and open water swim in 2 yrs. I only got off line with my navigation once and that was minimal. I did have to stop and empty out my goggles 3 times which really pissed me off. I flet like I kept it nice and steady. Never pushed it too hard, but I was ready to get out by the end. I was very pleased with my swim time. What would you do differently?: get goggles tighter. They hadn't leaked at all during warmups. Of course. Transition 1
Comments: I was trashed running up the short hill to the TA. I was finally able to get unzipped and had peeled the top by the time I get to my bike, but it took a bit longer than it should have. I could have shaved 15 sec or so at least. What would you do differently?: I sat and gathered myself once I got to the TA. It cost me some time, but I needed it. Bike
Comments: The ride went as expected. I haven't ridden much at all the last 2 yrs so I wasn't expecting much. I felt like I was going faster so I was a bit disappointed with my time, but I was pushing fairly hard and it wasn't as if I were coasting the whole time. I just have NO power after not riding for so long What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: I coud NOT get my shoes on. I went sockless, which was fine, no problems there. I had put the elastic laces in my shoes yesterday, I just had them too tight and it would have been faster with the regular old tie em up laces. What would you do differently?: not have shoes too tight Run
Comments: The run went GREAT. I was hoping to run 29 min for the 4 miles. I hit the first mile marker in 6:45 and assumed it was misplaced. I felt good, so I kept that pace and hit the turnaround at 13:30. I was still feeling goo, but the 3rd mile was mostly back up hill, and I slowed a bit, hit mile3 at 20:30, then picked it up a bit the last mile. I felt really good the whole time and had another couple of miles in me at that pace, I think. I still can't believe how good the run was. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: got a couple of cookies and hit the road to get home What limited your ability to perform faster: not enough time on the bike over hte last couple of years Event comments: This is still a great race. Not too big, not too small. Nice lake, rolling hills on the bike and run. The weather was ideal this year, too, and that helped on the run. I remember it being 90 degrees or so the last time I did this. Last updated: 2012-05-16 12:00 AM
