Swim
Comments: A 28 minute swim is amazing for me, who has struggled getting faster over the last couple years. The swim is usually the big limiter for me placing higher, so I was very pleased with this. So 1:43 /100 is amazing for me...the funny thing is that due to the wave start and having to give the starter my race number I forgot to press the start button on my watch so until the results were posted I did not know my swim time. I liked the TT start, I passed several people on the way out and it became a log jam of bodies near the narrow finish. The water was getting nastier as we got to the narrow section. I felkt a little more gassed getting out of the water than usual but that may have been an indicator of being 8 minutes faster than the last time I did this distance, so I will not complain about being tired. Worth noting was a girl hanging on a kayak. My father said the race officials got worried because there still was one bike left in T1 and no sign of the last swimmer until someone said they saw a girl walking down mainstreet in a wetsuit. What would you do differently?: nothing, but to be ready for IMLP I need to pace myself better....dont think I can do a 1:43/100 for a 2.4 swim...so I need to be a little more consious of my effort and pace accordingly...but for this distance I guess it was good Transition 1
Comments: This was slow because I am dealing with a neuroma on my right foot and moleskin helps it so I took a little more time putting it on but it did not matter because I had to rip it off because it was too wet......fortunately it did not bother me except for the first mile of the run...probably since I did not run on it for a week prior Bike
Comments: Got off to a fast start averaging 23 mph and HR was under control but toned it back because I felt I needed to be around 20 mph effort to have a decent run....a guy wiped out a mile or so in front of me but seemed ok except for road rash. I enjoyed the course, except I found the one hill on the course more challenging than it should have been, either I did not get the gearing correct or I need a 28 gear for steeper hills because I slowed down too much and worked too hard. around mile 19 I really was losing energy but after I got onto doctors path and a pack of 5 guys passed me I really got a second burst of energy and passed them and kept at it at 23 mph till the end 1 gu and 20 oz gatorade What would you do differently?: nothing just handle the hill better Transition 2
What would you do differently?: nothing really Run
Comments: pretty good run for me....I usually do a 43-46 stand alone so this was pretty good.... took 2 gus and just water at every rest area....was trying to push it as hard as I could. I may have left a little in the tank but at most maybe I could have shed a couple minutes.....but a solid run for me Post race
Warm down: water and the free beer!!!!! Event comments: This was a great innagural event....I would do it again....even though the participation and fans was average for the distance having the long boardwalk for people to watch you finish and cheer during the swim and running down mainst to the crowd as well as the bike was a gresat lift.....I may not do it next year because IMLP but I would reccomened this race and would do it again in subsequent years Last updated: 2012-05-17 12:00 AM

had some interupted sleep , and woke up at 3 till I actually got out of bed at 4. Ate 2 english muffins with PB, banana, 2 cups coffee and sipped gatorade. Loaded up car with dad and head to race around 5. Family to follow later.
Did not do a normal warmup....there really was no place to easily do a swim warm-up...noone else went into the water either pre-race
