Run
Comments: I was set up to get a 3:30 finish if I could run 2 8:00 miles at the end. I didn't. I got passed at mile 24 by a guy who looked like he was in my ag, as I walked the last 1/8 mi. of 23. I wanted to sprint it in to the end, but a combo of overhydration and tired/pain in legs prevented me from catching him and reaching my 3:30:00 goal. One small criticism is that miles 7-10, and mile 13 were not marked this year. Made it tough to pace those miles, but didn't affect my overall race time. What would you do differently?: Funny sounding, but I would've hydrated less after mile 19. The course has a lot of aid stations after mile 19, almost every mile, and I drank too much down the stretch. I would add 1-2 more long runs to the training plan, as I had a bought with my plantar towards the heart of training, and this may have attributed to sore/tired legs at the end. My plan was great, my execution of plan was good, I just couldn't get it done. Post race
Warm down: Ibuprofen, Gatoraid, water, Chicken sandwiches. Laid in grass for 20-30 minutes as I visited with family and friends at the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: tired/pain in legs after mile 21. I couldn't push through any faster than I did. Event comments: I like this race, but with wife and kids, I do not travel out of the area to do other events other than local races to compare this race to. It's low key, helps charity, and have good shirt/medal at end. Last updated: 2012-05-19 12:00 AM

I tapered well for this race. I ran 2x last week, a 4 and 3 mile run. Woke up at 5:00. Had everything laid out the night before. 2 toast w/jam, and a bannana for breakfast.
Not enough. By the time I used the restroom, the race was upon us. Not enough port o potties to accomodate all in a timely manner. I got stretched out at starting line, and the gun sounded.
