Comments:

Overall I was really pleased with my initial run. This is considered a D race as I am gearing up for 2 half irons and a full iron later this summer, so really was a test to see where my fitness level is. I am not a really fast, so holding a sub 5 min/km pace was really good for me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, felt amazing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

This was a bad transition for me. I was winded so I took a few extra seconds to control my beathing, and then when I was ready to head out, my aero bottle fell off, there was an issue with the strap. I lost 1 minute just fixing it. That bothered me, but the I was less winded starting off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Check equipment to make sure all is ready to go.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 3s
  • 30 kms
  • 29.48 km/hr
Comments:

Again, this was a test, and I pushed the pace all the way, again above comfort level. Pushed up all the hills, and hammered down all the hills, I was really pleased with how my new bike handled and how I was able to maintain the aero position for about 90% of the ride, which was my goal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, loved th test of pushing myself.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Better than T1 and no snaffues. I took it easy to try and cathc my breath to start out again for the run
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run

Comments:

I knew this second run woul be more challenging since I pushed myself on the 1st two segments, which was my goal, push the first bike, and run,and hang on for the final run leg. So it was as challenging as I expected, but managed to run it all, with only walk breaks at the aid stations at Km 1 and 3. It was tough, especially, the last hill, but still managed to jog across the line. I knew I gave it my all as I had no kick, and I usually have a kick, even after a half iron so I knew I gave it all, so felt good about about that.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, all went as planned. I trained all winter in a Marathon Clinic and have been hitting personal Bests in my 3 races this year so my running is as strong as it has ever been so no worries there.
Post race
Warm down:

Actually , my goal was to finish in time to join my wife on here final leg of the run and that is what I had done, but quickly found that the heat took a toll and could only walk out to the aid station and run the last 1 km with her, so a nice 1 km walk and a 1km walk/run back with the misses.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still need to loose some weight, although I am at my lowest weight this year, I need to drop another 20 lbs, which is my goal weight for my Iron Distance race in September.

Event comments:

Since I did not get food right after the race and went out to join my wife, she was near the back of the pack and by the time we got back into transition and went for the post race food, it was packing up and they did not have any subway subs left. very disappointing. the last finishers deserve the same amenaties as the early finishers, so I was a littel disappointed, and I will be writing Subaru Triathlon series about that
