Run
Comments: Tried to keep it steady and hit a good pace, 5 min/km was pretty good for me and I was happy to maintain it for the entire course. What would you do differently?: Be fitter to push harder and run faster.....but for now, I would change nothing. Transition 1
Comments: A little tired coming into transition, helmet on, shoes off and bike shoes on, still haven't mastered the mounting with the shoes on the bike, so that would be good for next year. Out onto the bike course, happy to get going. What would you do differently?: Learn how to mount with the shoes already on the bike Bike
Comments: Got going and passed a few people straight away. Up and over the two big hills on weimer line. The course was changed from previous years. The out and back section was good with a couple significant hills. I had a good steady pace going, not as fast as the previous course but still quite good. Drank appropriately, had some side wind on the way back but nothing significant, the downhills were great to get a lot of momentum going. What would you do differently?: Nothing, be fitter to push harder. A good result for me with my given fitness at this point of the season. Transition 2
Comments: Dismounted with shoes on my feet, running into transition, I had to slow down as woman was walking through the transition entrance and another woman ran into me with her bike! I was a little pissed off, but just left it and continued. Rack bike, helmet off, shoes off and running shoes on and off I go. What would you do differently?: Hopefully, not get run into....learn to dismount with shoes still on the bike. Run
Comments: Feeling tired and the legs were pretty heavy but just thought to but one foot in front of the other and keep going. The big hill out of transition was tough but just got it done, lots of water over my head and choked on the water I tired to drink, so I had to walk while I was coughing, started running again after 20 secs, it was hotter and so it was a little slower but a decent run time none the less. Had a nice push to the line. What would you do differently?: not choke on water and go harder but I was pretty much at my limit. Post race
Warm down: ride back home after hanging around and talking to teammates and having something to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: early season race and lack of fitness but otherwise a decent performance. Event comments: Good course, the change in bike course was a little slower but still good, nice paved road on the new section but the same rough roads for the rest. Good race and well run. Rode to the race, which was about 5 km away, so it served as a nice warm up for the race. Did some light warm-up jogging about 15 mins before the start and then hung around until the gun went off.
went well, HR wasn't too high like 2 years ago but it was quite warm out.
