Swim
Comments: There were lots at least 35 strong swimmers huddled together by the buoy closest in line to the first turn buoy. I had to back up prior to the swim start so I didn't get in their way. What would you do differently?: Thankfully I used my 910xt Garmin and switched on the multi-sport feature. I was able to set my swim splits per 100m. After seeing my results, I noticed that my pace dropped in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th split. Next time, I will swim harded in the middle and not wait for the final stretch to turn it up. Transition 1
Comments: Luckily, the wet suit came off very easily at the feet. I sometimes get dizzy and fall over. I came close but held onto the bike rack with lots of strength. What would you do differently?: Put my helmet on as I take off my wet suite. Bike
Comments: I always have challenges getting my legs warmed up for the first 5K of the cycle. It was a small steady climb at first. I got cramps in my calves, may have been from the swim since the water temp was really warm. A lot of men in the 40+ age group were zooming by me very easy. What would you do differently?: Improve my bike start since this has always been a challenge. I do tend to fly afterwards but being the 1st race, I will cut myself some slack. Lots of work to do before my next race in 3 weeks. My cadense. I normally average over 90. I averaged 79 which tells a bad story. Transition 2
Comments: This part went well. What would you do differently?: Choose a more strategic location with in the transition area. Run
Comments: This is my best area. I was hoping for a 4.34/KM run but managed a 4.43/km run. My stomach felt weird throughout the whole run. I drank a whey shake before the swim and it didn't sit well. Felt like crap during the run. Found it difficult to go faster since I was holding my stomach. I did manage to sprint near the end and holf off another pursuer behind me. What would you do differently?: Ensure I eat lighter pre race which wont effect the run. Change my run pace with 1.5 left to go. Post race
Warm down: Did nothing but sat on the bench recovering!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not having a solid off season bike workout. Event comments: Thanks to everyone from Multi-Sport Triathlon series. AND special thanks to all the volunteers!!! Last updated: 2012-05-23 12:00 AM
