Comments: One of the few places I've made some leaps. About 30" faster than my time last year and I was feeling great off of it! Still about a minute behind the fastest guys but still, baby steps, and for a guy that couldn't make it 25m without stopping less than 3 years ago, I'll take it. What would you do differently?: Seed myself a bit farther up the line. I guesstimated a 6:00-6:10 and swam a 5:50 so I was a bit off. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: You know how we roll... don't practice transitions since the last race, show up and expect everything to go smooth. Well, my foot did slide off the shoe when I mounted, but it didn't hurt me (or embarrass me) but may have cost me a second or so. Looking at others, it could have been a bit better though. What would you do differently?: ahem... yeah. ![]() Bike
Comments: My biking fitness has been off since I was injured and I'm still fighting back to where I was this time last year. About a 30" difference between this year and last :( I feel like I was working pretty hard on the hills compared to what I remember last year...although they do say time is the great healer. What would you do differently?: Plenty I suppose. Mostly not getting injured in September would be first on that list. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Again, a *good* transition, but not a *great* one. I could still cut a few more seconds if I really put some effort into it. What would you do differently?: practice... ![]() Run
Comments: This run felt pretty tough. I planned to sprint out the last couple of hundred meters, but it was all I had not to stop and walk for a few seconds. On the plus side... 2 seconds faster than last year ;) What would you do differently?: Again... after the injury I'm tickled pink that I am as far along as I am this year, especially considering I've done almost zero speed work. However, there's still a lot of miles to be covered before I can say I'm a "good" runner. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Wow, I was hurtin' at the finish. Finally went to the shower's and let cold water run for a bit to cool myself down. Grabbed some Cokes and Gatorade and just relaxed and chatted until results got posted. What limited your ability to perform faster: Well, JUST arriving back in town from a week of debauchery probably did a little bit of limiting... but honestly I think being on par with where I was last year is at least semi-encouraging for Augusta this year. Event comments: I may be partial, but I do enjoy Race Day Events... err... events... Last updated: 2012-05-29 12:00 AM

Well, First day back at the office after an 8 day (awesome) Vacation and it's a race... right. Well, whatever. I decided to do the race Sunday night so I didn't even take the time to check over my bike (a big no-no for me) or do anything other than inflate the tires. Despite worrying that my tri suit might not fit after a week of benders and overeating everything falls fairly well into place on Monday morning... I may have overslept however...ehh what can you do.
Got on the bike and ran up and down the exit of t1 and entrance of t2 (which has some speed bumps that must be avoided/hopped)then got a good run in. Finally got in the pool and did some sprints. Then lined up and seeded myself a bit conservatively.
