Swim
Comments: lots of bumping going on at the start and found it difficult to get into a rhythm on the swim. Was winded coming out of lake, more so than in my TT's. Sighting was better than I thought it would be. What would you do differently?: Let the initial swimmers go ahead of me to keep from getting caught ip in the chop and bumping around. Settle into it more. Transition 1
Comments: Felt like my T1 took longer than it needed to but the timing showed I did ok. Was feeling winded from the swim yet. What would you do differently?: Better idea of HRM on wrists, and timing chip removal then reattaching.. Bike
Comments: Good overall split. For whatever reason my lower back was aching after about 5 miles which hasn't happened in a while. Wanted to hit a 20MPH average but only managed a 19.5 Average. Hills were a lot and after the 2nd one I felt tired. Took a while to get energy back up. What would you do differently?: Not sure.....Felt good overall, just needed to be a little faster. Transition 2
Comments: Took a second or so longer to rack bike. Almost forgot race belt. What would you do differently?: not much, just more efficiency needed. Run
Comments: Heat and sun were getting hot. Did't cramp coming off bike, a first for me! took a little while to settle into the run. last mile was getting hard due to heat and I felt my hip flexors starting to get a little tender. What would you do differently?: Not sure. Happy that I didn't cramp up. Wished my hip flexors weren't acting up. Post race
Warm down: walked around, drank water, looked for shade, stretched a little What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat was a big factor. The weeds in the lake along with getting in the middle of a lot of people kicking and pushing me around took its toll in the water and winded me. My lower back aching more than likely caused me not to hit my 20MPH average I was shooting for. The heat and hip flexors caused my run to be a little longer time wise than I was hoping for. Event comments: Liked it overall except for the weeds in the lake. I'm spoiled living in an area that has clear water with little to no weeds in the lakes. Last updated: 2012-05-29 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5AM. Had a cup of coffee, did an abbreviated yoga routine to loosen up. At a bowl of oatmeal. took a shower packed and left about 6:15.
Got to the event. They had it premarked as to where our spots were. I had a good one, close to entry/exit for bike. Checked bike over did some stretching, jogged a little. Due to weed issues, the swim portion of the event was shortened to about 370 yards.
