Swim
Comments: horse shoe course. 3 foot swells. Impossible to site. Swallowed a swell half way through and had to stop and started gagging. Going out was 16min then turn was 22 then back was 21 or so. The current kept pushing me left and back. the last 200 yards took forever. By the time I made it on the beach I had to run 100 yards right to get to the swim exit mat. Transition 1
Comments: Sand everywehere. So took a little while to hose off feet etc. then trotted to stuff. Heart rate was a little high but usually how T1 is. Bike
Comments: was going pretty well averaging 21.4 when my computer went out at 39 miles. Once hit beach front road going back to transition 20+mph headwind with strong gust. Then it started to rain. too bad this was not a tail wind because I would have going 30+mph. I lost a ton of time here in the last 8 miles or so. Transition 2
Comments: bike was 1st rack out of transistion and and 1st one in. So this was awesome. Socks were damp from rain but shoes didnt get too wet. Run
Comments: started out okay but not great. I knew my running was not going to be great since Im still only 3 weeks from my bike crash and I really didnt do much of training inbetween races. Around mile 3 i decided to walk aide stations. Miles were going by and I was just trying to tough it out. took gel every 30 min. Around mile 8 I tried walking some and this was bad idea. At around mile 10 I started to stop and go and all of a sudden I totally locked up. calves and hami just stiffened up. Tried to stretch and run through it but came back instantly. I forgot my salt tablets so at this point in the race I knew this wasnt a quick fix. tried to run with heel strick to keep calf stretched didnt work too well. I did a lot of walking last 5k and lost a crap load of time. Worst half mary time. With a mile to go I still had potiential of beating my best full HIM time of 5:47. I slipped away as I was limping the last 0.25 mile. Oh well I say Rachel right before the finish line with my 8 month old son poking out of her belly and I all of a sudden realized that triathlon times just dont mean as much anymore as they use to. I gave her and her belly a big kiss and continued to hobble down the finish shoot. Post race
