Overall Rank = 38/50

Age Group Rank = 13/19
Pre-race routine:

drive to park, get out of car, throw on wetsuit, set up "transition area" giggle with TNT pals, decide to take off watch and HRM and just enjoy the experience.
Event warmup:

uh... i hate warm ups. FYI, this event was swim then run, so the T info will be funny
Run
  • 30m 16s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I never took my walk break! with one mile to go I realized I was just sort of jogging, so I took off. It's been a very long time since i have actually RUN. very strong finish, I passed a few people, I felt like I had great form for that last mile AND went fast
What would you do differently?:

warm up a little before hand so I could RUN SOONER! It was really weird, I literally suddenly thought, hmm, I wonder what it would be like to go fast? And I took off...
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

I took plenty of time. the water was COLD, really cold and full of nasty piles of green lake junk. I almost prefer waves and salt-- no never mind, I don't want to do St A's again.
What would you do differently?:

set up my area properly, bring a towel, use yanks (i never put them on my new shoes)
Swim
  • 23m 9s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

I really never felt like I was racing in the water, it was a small group, LOTS of Ironmen (based on the bumper stickers and tatoos!) and to be out there at 7 pm on a weeknight in the freezing rain, you had to be hardcore... so for me it was a training event, I just didn't want to be last out of the water, and TG, I wasn't!
What would you do differently?:

I am still not wild about the full wetsuit, my shoulders felt restricted, but it was too cold to go without. day after, and my shoulders are very sore
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

uh, yeah. I brought no towel, and pretty much just had a pile of stuff waiting for me to go through. I realize I didn;t take this seriously as a RACE exactly, next time I think I want to plan better
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Post race
Warm down:

stretched a little

What limited your ability to perform faster:

choosing not to race :) I think I will plan to race the next one.

Event comments:

this was the first event of its kind here- Fleet Feet sponsored it and the RD was apologetic in advance in case anything went wrong- it was perfect. Low key, cozy, informal... I can;t wait to do this each month!

Per today's log entry, i need to relax, and take the pressure off any way I can. The way I chose to do this race did exactly that. I am pleased, and look forward to being active and healthy in all ways, and if it means not racing at races, so be it.
