Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, ate some food and headed down for packet pickup. Got bike lined out at car, then transition setup and some stretching.
Swim
  • 29m 13s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water felt great. Pace felt good. My googles were fogged and sighting was kind of hard. I ended up swimming way outside the line which probably added some time to my swim.
What would you do differently?:

I need to buy some foggle bad.
Transition 1
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

Easy and quick
What would you do differently?:

cant ask for anything better than I did
Bike
  • 1h 15m 23s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.78 mile/hr
Comments:

Bad storms the night before, lots of puddles, but overall dry course. Extrememly rough. I felt beat up after the ride. I have done this course twice on my road bike, feels so much worse on a tri bike. I was pretty happy with my ride this time on my tri bike compared to my last race. I feel like I am finally getting used to it.
What would you do differently?:

Push a bit harder my first lap. I held up a bit to see how I felt.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

another smooth transition
What would you do differently?:

I may need to start talking off my garmin and putting in on my wrist band as I ride up to transition.
Run
  • 51m 47s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

suprised myself. Came out of transition around 8 30 pace and thought I was going way to fast. I had planned to try to run around 9 15 and pick up as I felt. After drinking too much on the bike I was sloshing though, which I think stopped me from going faster. Several burps which felt like they were going to be a little more than just a burp!
What would you do differently?:

Drink less. I paced it pretty good though. Not get a blister! more body glide between toes.
Post race
Warm down:

water water water and some pretzels.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

traning. Pure and simple, but this was a great race for me.

Event comments:

3rd year to do this race, last 2 years I have just done the sprint. Well planned and run race. Its always on my list. Plus this was the State Regoinal Championship. No wonder I felt slow, even though I was more or less PRing at this distance for me.
