Swim
Comments: Perfect water temp for wetsuit. Really enjoyed the swim, no panic, bilateral breathing. Ended up off course twice after turning last buoy. Followed someone else who was off too. It's more of an acute angle to exit then a straight in to shore. What would you do differently?: On race morning, relook at swim course map and visualize while looking out at the water. Transition 1
Comments: 3/11 in AG transition Much smoother off. Was difficult to get my feet out at the end without sitting down. What would you do differently?: Could have sat down when taking off wetsuit because I had to sit down anyway to put on my socks. Bike
Comments: Had trouble staying in aero because of the crick in my neck and shoulder weakness. What would you do differently?: Need to find my aero bento box. Tape to tube worked ok. Would also like a more streamlined patch kit on back. Need to find fresh band to hold in aero water bottle. Transition 2
Comments: 2/11 AG transition Considered trying to run in socks. Because of muddy terraine, decided to run in shoes downhill. Good call. What would you do differently?: nothing, went well Run
Comments: Didn't dial in a target pace until I got into the run. Felt like I could work a 9:30 and basically did. I did find the second lap very challenging, especially the hill leading up to the white barn. I thought I could walk faster than I was running! Hamstrings were very tight during last 1/4 of run. What would you do differently?: Encorporate hamstring exercises into my training. Post race
Event comments: 2 minutes faster PR achieved by gaining over 5 minutes in the swim, despite being off course, and better transitions offset by 1 extra minute on bike and 4 extra minutes in the run. Small, intimate race with stiff competition. The hills keep the less committed away. Very well run and a lot of fun. Last updated: 2012-06-04 12:00 AM

glad I reviewed my previous race reports, did a better job holding off on the warm up and making sure my wet suit was over my watch and timing chip. Also slept very well at Jim Thorpe campground which was a relief after Friday's migraine. Also, for the first time, figured out how that yellow sponge on the aero water bottle is supposed to work by looking at my neighbor's bike set up. Thank goodness I had time to go back to the car, fish out the tweezers, and dislodge the sponge.
