Total Time = 2h 37m 30s
Overall Rank = 71/292
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/39
Pre-race routine:

Ate a LOT. Two packets of oatmeal for breakfast, and then 2 more on the way to the race. Then a PowerBar an hour before, and a Roctane about 20 minutes before (while sipping on Roctane Drink). Nearly cracked into another PowerBar.
Event warmup:

About 10 seconds of my first OWS of the year. Super.
Swim
  • 27m 39s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Knew I didn't have the swim training to do really well here. I worked on not over-rotating when I breathed in order to keep my momentum going. Sighting got worse after the final turn - I stayed a bit to the left to the first bouy, stayed a bit left on the back-stretch, and then kept accidentally veering left heading to the swim exit. But, I was just a few seconds from a swim PR!!!?!?! It was due to constantly thinking about form and not just powering through the water.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Dizzy. Slow run up to T1. Didn't go too hard - just kept it easy.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 54s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.21 mile/hr
Comments:

I drank a lot, and thought I needed more! I drank a full bottle of water, a full bottle of Gatorade, and most of a "hand off" bottle at the top of the hill. But I didn't push too hard throughout the ride - I was a little scared to go all out.
What would you do differently?:

Train more...
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

OK throughout.
Run
  • 44m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I knew I was dying. I KNEW I'd have to walk. I just walked to put off walking for as long as possible. Started walking at the turn-around loop. Walked 2 or 3 times in that 8:38 mile. Walked once in the 7:19 mile, walked one FOR 2 MINUTES in the 7:21 mile. It was pretty horrible. My heel was a little TIGHT at the end, but no sharp pain! Yay!
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing. Walked to see Henry and Grace, walked back to get my stuff, then took off and drove for 2.5 hours straight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.

Event comments:

I'd be excited to come back and race this again! It was a GREAT race, it just got hot and horrible for me. I'll try this again!....
