Pre-race routine:

English muffin with peanut butter, banana and drizzle of honey 2 hrs before race. Hammer gel right before swim.

First open water experience. I kept veering to the right instead of staying closer to the buoys, which made my 750 m more like 850

Too long in T1. Put on my helmet before realizing that I hadn't put on my jersey yet. Extra time used to take off helmet, put on jersey and place helmet back on.
What would you do differently?:

Wear just a tri top (only had a bathing suit top for the swimming)

This was a familiar route as I live in the area, so knew when the hills were coming. I typically do 16 mph on this route and increased to almost 17 mph for the race. I'm pleased with my ride.
What would you do differently?:

Continued interval training on the bike to tackle the hills better.

This is my downfall is all triathlons...the running. Just can't get my legs moving after the cycle. First mile and a half was hard and I ended up walking up the hills and barely jogging for the rest. After the 1st mile and half, I was able to build up to quicker pace and felt much more comfortable for the last mile. I will not that this run was a couple minutes pace faster than my 2 mile run with my first triathlon over 1/2 year ago, so I've definitely made progress
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn how to run and try interval running.

Event comments:

Disappointed the the t-shirts were not tech shirts and that they were sized bigger than normal. All tris should have tech shirts offered!
