Pre-race routine:

Normal breakfast at home. Went early to layout transitions, warm-up etc. Felt calm. Had to get my bike derailers adjusted after tune-up this week.
Event warmup:

Swam a few laps in the warm pool. Stretched.
Swim
  • 12m
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 24s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt like a very good swim. Not happy with the time. I think they made a mistake.
What would you do differently?:

Need to learn to swim better especially breathing and stamina.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Had things laid out well. Everything went as planned. Transition time is estimated. Transition time was included in bike time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 43m 31s
  • 11 miles
  • 15.17 mile/hr
Comments:

Seemed like a good ride. Lost my chain shifting down to the small chainring and had to stop and fix it. My stomach started cramping on the return ride and I almost threw up a couple times. It was a very hard ride. I did the best I can.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a bike tune-up the day before the race. Train more.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Everything went as planned. Transition time estimated. Transition time was included in the run time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 36m 40s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 11m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Very tough run. Some of the hills were so steep I had to walk. I was very worn out from the bike and couldn't maintain a good pace. Almost threw up several times. I did the best I can.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. Practice more hills. Eat earlier in the morning to try and settle my stomach by race time.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. Not enough practice on the very tough course.Upset stomach.

Event comments:

A totally new layout this year with a new bike and run course. Much better as far as the transitions and spectator control. However, the run course is just too hard. An additional drink station would be good. I'm sure there will be further adjustments next year.
