Swim
Comments: This being my first triathlon, I had not much of a clue on strategy or any expectation of what is good or bad. Ran into the water in the middle of the big pack. Was held up by the heavy traffic and ended up near the back of the wave. The swim time includes a fairly good distance between the lake and the transition area. What would you do differently?: Try to start out quicker and get to the front of the wave to avoid traffic. If I do get stuck in traffic, just keep swimming fast until the others drop back. Run faster from the water to the transition. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't wear a wet suit or have bike shoes so I thought I would have a really fast T1. I guess not so fast compared to others. lol What would you do differently?: Preview the area around transition to see where I need to go. Bike
Comments: I was happy that I rode the route twice in training. Fun to ride with all the other people on race day. Coming into T2 I noticed the guy in front of me guzzling water. I thought that was a good idea since it was a hot day. Get hydrated before the run. What would you do differently?: Faster pace. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't have any problem with T2 but there's always room for improvement. Run
Comments: Not completely accustomed to the heat but overall it was OK. Drank too much water at the end of the bike and could hear water sloshing around inside me. What would you do differently?: Don't drink too much. I know this from training but, even though this is a "sprint", it's still a 1.5 hour even for me so it qualifies as endurance. So I thought I should take in more water. Post race
Warm down: Elevated feet for a few minutes. Had water and a sub. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience. Conditioning. Speed training. But still happy I did it and finished OK. Signing up for Niagara to set a PB. Event comments: Very well organized. A well-oiled machine. Last updated: 2012-06-11 12:00 AM

Ate peanut butter and banana on rye toast 2 hrs before race (Same as breakfast). Arrived approx. 1 hr before the race. Racked bike. Had to rack in an area adjacent to my age-group-assigned area. Registered. Set up transition. Checked out where we needed to go in and out of transitions.
Swam maybe 50 meters, stretched.
