Swim
Comments: Felt pretty marginal on the swim, but actually think I sighted really well and kept myself in it. I started right up front and got swum over at the start, but on the back leg the middle buoy was no where near the line and I was able to cut straight to the final turn. What would you do differently?: ?? Transition 1
Comments: 125 OA, 7th AG for t1. Was happy I wasn't dizzy like I have been in some recent races, but I did have some issues getting the speedsuit unzipped and dropped my goggles so I wasn't thrilled. What would you do differently?: be better... Bike
Comments: I had issues clipping in for the start, but eventually I got clipped in. From there I rode hard but steady. I pushed almost 100% of the time. There were lots of other people out there, but the real fast people were already way out in front from the elite wave, so I was not particularly racing anyone out there. Just went as fast as I could. Felt good about the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: 64th OA, 3rd AG. Not my best but a pretty good transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Looking forward to the run actually. Again did not really have anyone to chase or race with, but I tried to push the whole way. I was a bit over my 6:00/mile goal pace, but still felt like I had a good run and felt to be overheating much less than past PHLY tri races. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: walked around and cheered on other racers. Checked the results and waited for awards ceremony. The AG win is a bit of a misnomer because of the aforementioned elite wave nonsense. I was clearly beaten by plenty of people in my age group but because of the elite wave setup, they don't count. What limited your ability to perform faster: ? Event comments: I like this race a lot. Part of it are the people I do it with, but it also has a good course, decent activities, great shirts, etc. They got rid of the post race tomato pie (pizza), so that sucked, but it was still awesome. Phily Tri
Overall Rank = 17/963
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/84
Stayed at Tim and Laura's. It was Jeff's first tri so it was really exciting to help him get all set up and go through the race. We parked in our usual spot and rode down to set up and get ready
Went for a quick run with Tim. I was feeling great and ready. I decided not to race the elite wave even though Tim was. It was a bummer not to be able to race him head to head, but I was partly boycotting the way they do the elite wave and more importantly wanted to hang with Jeff for his first ever tri and help him get set for the swim start.
