Swim
Comments: This past winter I really worked on my swimming, I felt in control and very comfortable the entire swim. Now I need to work on my speed. What would you do differently?: Not worry so much about the swim, it ended up being my favorite part of the triathlon. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I really enjoyed the bike portion, I spent alot of time smiling and thinking about how good my swim went. My goal was 19 mph, and I had no problem hitting it. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Run
Comments: I felt really good on the run, had to make a porta potty break but other than that I was really happy. My goal was 8 minute miles, and even with the pit stop I had no problem making it. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, then called my wife to tell her that I lived through the swim. What limited your ability to perform faster: A race plan that I stuck to. I could have pushed the bike and run, but overall I had a great day. Event comments: I really enjoyed the Olympic distance, and now that I know what to expect I am ready to race the next one. This was my first olympic triathlon, and to say I was nervous is an understatement. I didn't sleep well the night before, and really didn't feel like eating my peanut butter toast that morning. I very briefly thought about switching to the duathlon, but I am so glad I didn't.
About fifty yards just to get used to the water temp. I felt so much better after getting in the water.
