Age Group Rank = 1/
Pre-race routine:

Dinner at Joe's pasta night before-had lasagna and garlic sticks. Went for a 20 minute swim in hotel pool.
Event warmup:

15 minute warm up.
Dynamic stretches
Swim
  • 46m
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt really good on the swim-especially with the lack of swim training I've had this year.
What would you do differently?:

More training maybe to get faster. Felt great though!
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Didn't really worry about speed. Didn't have shoes clipped in. Focus more on comfort than speed.
What would you do differently?:

Not much-worked good and was still pretty quick.
Bike
  • 2h 55m
  • 56 miles
  • 19.20 mile/hr
Comments:

Drank a ton. Too much. Went out too hard. Oh well-good learning experience. Aid stations rocked-3 on the course with bananas, gatorade, and water. I was getting tired of gels!
What would you do differently?:

Not go so hard into the headwinds. Save some gas for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

Once again focus more on comfort. Put on socks, used regular tie-laces. My oakleys broke earlier before the race, and I had them somewhat fixed, but they broke again taking off the helmet.
What would you do differently?:

Not much-worked good and still pretty fast.
Run
  • 2h 05m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

HOT! Not a ton of shade on the course. Lots of aid stations with ice, water, gatorade, gels, and sponges. Had to do some walking on second lap due to heat and from going to hard on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not go so hard first lap. Go faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a bottle of water and did some stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat, Hills, Wind, Pacing.

Event comments:

Post race food was kind of limited. Other than that, well ran race that I hope to do again!
