Swim
What would you do differently?: Lots.....but really swim, I think I just floated along, and used no power. My arms and back felt a bit like they were working, but probably b/c I was fighting chop. Transition 1
Comments: No wetsuit stripper, so I did have slight trouble getting suit off. Bike
Comments: My power was pretty low 122-130;-(( What would you do differently?: I think I spent the first loop of the bike in "giving up" mode. I was so bummed about swim that I let it affect my bike (would not do that again....b/c saw times with same swim times, and they had good bike and run...and were close to my goal). I did a GU every 30-40 minutes (4-5?), at about mile 30 ate a Bonk Breaker Bar (220 calories). I ate about 4 Ginger Chew candies to keep stomach in check. Had my water bottle drop from bike around corners near construction, had to wait about 2 minutes for police to hand it to me. Transition 2
Comments: Did this all well, but it was a bit longer to run than I thought, we had to run to end of transition, and around....;-(( What would you do differently?: Could be faster, of course. Run
Comments: I started too FAST again. First 2 splits 8:21, 8:26....I really tried hard to slow myself down, but then I had silly ideas of keeping up that pace. Which I hit mile 3 at 9:30 (bathroom break), and after that just tried to maintain under 9....which I think I did mostly maybe one mile had a 9:11. I did a GU at about mile 3. Ate about 3 or 4 Ginger Chew Candies.... What would you do differently?: I was pretty happy with run, but I got to start a tad slower, and I also maybe should have sone another GU (?Mile 8) Post race
Warm down: Walked and ate.... What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental stuff! Not happy with swim, and I let it affect the rest of my day. I would not do that again, b/c at P-man didn't know swim and I biked faster.... Event comments: I liked this race.....size was good. Course was pretty easy....so good for an early season 1/2. I know without a doubt I was capable of a better time. Really happy though with under 6 hours. My goal now is just sub 5:50.....I know I can do it!!! I also raced Mooseman 2 weeks ago, and I hope that wasn't too close to this....and it affected my outcome here. Last updated: 2012-06-18 12:00 AM

I stayed in hotel about 20 minutes away, set alarm for 4:50 to be on road by 5:10, to arrive at sight at 5:30. I had 2 cups of coffee, and on the way to race drank my regular smoothie (Kale, frozen fruit, Vega Protein powder, chia seeds, banana, a handful of almonds). Arrived at sight, feeling pretty calm overall. Had enough time to set up, use BR, chat a bit, get on wetsuit, and head to water. I did a GU at about 7AM and my swim was 7:12
Swam about 2 minutes....
