Run
Comments: Nice day for a run. i decided to walk a portion of every mile because my training (such as it is) was really terrible. Then on the second hill of the course, i got light-headed while running up hill, so i figured i'd walk every hill. That worked out well for me. While i didn't, in fact, "race," i did finish under my own power, and i felt good afterward. i did what i could on the day i had to do it. Isn't that the goal? What would you do differently?: Train more. This whole grad school thing is kinda cramping my style, though. Post race
Warm down: There was rather an abrupt stop past the finish line, as they herded us through a tent for snacks and medals (for the half-barrel finishers). Warm down==i stood in place. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Asthma. Light-headedness. Event comments: The race is well organized, and with two free Tyranena beers and a lasagna dinner after the race? It's fantastic. The courses are *quite* hilly (both of my uncles who've run the half-barrel went in saying, "I love hills," and finished looking like death), but if you're ready for them, it's lovely. "Routine"? That implies i do this often enough to have a routine, right?
Pre-race warmup... find family, wander around, buy beer, put beer in car, sit around and regale family with stories about being a teaching assistant.
