Swim
Comments: Very average swim. Too relaxed. Sighting on the third leg was awful. There was no Orange Bouay, just a tent at the swim exit. Water was very shallow so lots of runningin the water at start, turn around and end. What would you do differently?: Swim a bit harder. Sight a bit better Transition 1
Comments: there was 600m between swim and bike line Lots of time to get wetsuit off What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: Very hilly course. It doesn't get much hillier than this. It's the toughest part of the IMMT course I saw some 12% and 14% flash on the Edge 500. They were short but tough, especially for a 'Heavier' guy I was pacing by power and was targeting 90% of FTP. I was glad to have NP on the Edge 500 and finished at NP=89% of FTP and a VI of 1.09 NP was 241w Top speed was 75km/h What would you do differently?: Need to crest hills better. I would climb hard, reach the top and back off. I need to crest, keep pushing and then relax a little when I hit full speed. If I had to do it again I would up my NP target 10w Transition 2
Comments: I went to the wrong rack so that cost me 30seconds What would you do differently?: Go to the right rack Run
Comments: They told us this course was flat. LIES. We start the run and bam you hit a nice hill. The volunteer screams "don't worry it's the onlyhill" LIES!! They just kept coming But my pace was very even. Because we left in waves it was impossible to tell who I was racing against, so I just did my own thing and watched my pace. It was very consistent. All kms within a second of the previous and a negative split With 1km to go the next guy ahead was pretty far. So I looked back to see if anyone was going to catch me and a young girl was being followed by her coach on a bike. He was screaming..."Pass this guy"...which she did I said to myself "I just got chicked" which was fine. We did pick up the pace and the guy ahead of us was suddenly in range with 500m to go. As we got closer I recognized him as in my AG. I knew I had to blast by him and not give him time to react. So I went for it, around a turn and BAM a hill. OMFG....Nooooooooo. I sucked it up and pushed hard I passed the girl that had passed me and her coach screamed "you let this guy pass you ?". I just gunned it and did the last km in 4:08 with the hill so I guess I had something left What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace a little earlier Post race
Warm down: None What limited your ability to perform faster: Knowing how to properly pace an Oly. Who knows ? Event comments: Great site for IM MT and 70.3. These will be spectacular events Last updated: 2012-06-18 12:00 AM

This race was the first in a series for the Quebec cup. You do 4 races, accumulate points and at the end of the season a provincial champion is declared and gets to go to worlds.
This was my first OLY in 3 years and was on the site of IM Mt Tremblant. It was a tough course. The following week I went 17min faster on a similar effort.
None. X-large Tim Horton's coffee
