Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 19/31
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4 a.m. to drink my bottle of INFINIT Nutrition and some chocolate milk. I tried a new approach so I wouldn't have to use the port a john's. I didn't drink any fluids after 4 a.m. It worked and I had enough fluids on the ride, but I now realize I should have drank more water. Something I'll have to consider for the next race.
Event warmup:

I stretched a little and used The Stick before I left the hotel room.
Swim
  • 29m 39s
  • 2078 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was fun right from the very beginning and it helped having plenty of other club members there along with the Warrior club.
What would you do differently?:

I did the one thing you aren't supposed to do and used my full wetsuit for the first time. No problems with the XTERRA Vortex and I was very comfortable with it during the swim. Wish I bought a full suit from the very beginning. The arm sleeves are very flexible.
Transition 1
  • 07m 10s
Comments:

For the first time I had no problems clipping in right away, this is a first for me during a race.
What would you do differently?:

I could have been a little faster.
Bike
  • 3h 02m 14s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.44 mile/hr
Comments:

I was steady the entire time and when I came across any hills I was actually stronger. Every time I took in nutrition, I had a burst of energy. I should talk with Christin about my water and food intake to see what she says.
What would you do differently?:

Take in more water. My urine wasn't clear until the day after.
Transition 2
  • 03m 42s
Comments:

We handed off the bikes at this event, which definitely helps your T2 time!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 2h 31m 51s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Between swimming, biking and running, running is the least time I spend doing. Now that my foot injury has been healed for 13 months now, I'm taking the step to focus my running. I just downloaded the 1/2 marathon training plan today.
What would you do differently?:

Placed more focus on my running.
Post race
Warm down:

Went from finish to hotel room to shower and change hoping to get back in time to cheer Peter, Maria and Kevin on at their finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing other than my running has got to improve.

Event comments:

I've been to a few triathlons in the past 7 years and having attended this year's B2B can see why people love it. I've never seen so many polite and courteous volunteers before. People were out cheering you on in the middle of nowhere. They closed bridges down and not one person in their cars yelled or looked upset. Very nice event, so much so I'm considering doing the full out there next year.

I haven't checked my Garmin, but I didn't wear my HR monitor. I would like to know my cadence.
Wind: Some with gusts
Course: Not exactly flat, but a great course. I didn't like the cones, but they were a necessity on the course. One lady in front of me narrowly missed one and in turn almost wrecked, which would have taken a bunch of us out.
